From stargazing and picnics with a stunning mountain backdrop, to horseback riding, bocce ball and other fun activities, Aliento offers you a fantastic variety of things to do on a date night with your special someone. But sometimes, you want a change of scenery and to try new things. Here are our top suggestions for some fun date nights in the Santa Clarita area:
Wolf Creek Brewery
Bond over beers at this craft brewery in Valencia, where the selection includes Desperado IPA, Howlin Hefeweizen, Midnight Howl American Black Ale and Over the Moon Stout, plus barrel-aged specialties. Play board games inside, cornhole outside. Every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., enjoy live music and a food truck with your beer and the satisfaction of knowing that a portion of the proceeds benefit local charities. It’s a bit hard to find the first time, and easily confused with its sister facility, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Co., so check directions carefully. 25108 Rye Canyon Loop.
Agua Dulce Winery
Enjoy a romantic, guided barrel tasting tour of this scenic, 90-acre farm followed by a picnic lunch, offered every Saturday and Sunday (advance reservations required). Come back for $5 tastings and glasses of wine every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., competitions in the horseshoe pits and Bocce Ball Challenge Course every weekend, the annual Stompfest (the couple that stomps together stays together!) and special holiday events.
Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center
Located on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons, this theater offers a variety of date night possibilities, from musicians such as Roseanne Cash and The Midtown Men (aka the Jersey Boys cast) to symphony and Shakespeare performances, and dance. End the evening with a frosty margarita at nearby Chuy’s on The Old Road or a glass of wine at Lee’s Wine Bistro at Valencia and McBean.
Old Town Newhall Farmer’s Market
Date “night” doesn’t have to be at night! Start your weekend with a trip to this farmer’s market, open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, to pick up fresh, local fruits and vegetables, baked goods, herbs, cheeses, prepared foods – and flowers (always good on a date). Free parking and occasional live entertainment included. Make a picnic of your purchases at an area park or prepare a delicious dinner for two at home.
Placerita Canyon Nature Center
Stroll hand-in-hand through a shady woodland in Los Piñetos Canyon to a 15-foot waterfall (what could be more romantic?). Or, if you and your date tend to be more adventurous, hike the 2.4-mile, steep Los Piñetos Trail to the top of the Santa Clarita Divide for views of the San Fernando Valley, downtown Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands that will take your breath away.
Santa Clara River Trail
If the two of you are looking for a new experience, why not try geocaching? If you haven’t heard of it, geocaching is like going on a scavenger hunt or looking for buried treasure in the middle of a city. You’re provided with coordinates and small clues and you have to find hidden items. The Santa Clara River Trail offers an 8 you can find out more.8-mile scenic view that follows the Santa Clara River, allowing you to explore the area and take in the sights, while offering a fun and unique experience as you play. You can find out more information about geocaching by downloading a free app for your phone, or visiting Geocaching.com
With all these options and more, date night is sure to become a favorite tradition. Remember to also plan an Aliento date night once in a while, cooking together, watching the sunset, relaxing around the fire pit or taking a stroll.
